When our team of dental professionals fitted you for your new set of dentures, the appliance was meant to restore the full function and appearance of your missing or extracted teeth for a long time to come. By cleaning and maintaining your new set of dentures every day, it helps ensure that they will serve you for a long period of time.

Here at Molinare Dental Group, we recommend using these tips to help extend the lifespan of your new dentures.

Many people with dentures prefer to use denture adhesives to secure their dentures firmly in place. This also helps block out food particles. If you do have some food particles trapped between your gums and the base of the dentures, you should thoroughly rinse them away as well as any residual adhesive. This will give you a smooth, clean surface to reapply fresh denture adhesive.

You should thoroughly rinse the dentures when you take them out of your mouth each night. This will remove any residual adhesive and plaque. You should then brush the dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture polish. Next, you should soak the dentures overnight in water and keep them in a safe place.

If you prefer, you can also lightly brush your tongue and gums to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
